Fireplace design trends for summer 2024

Fireplaces are useful all year round!

Whether you’re warming up in winter or enjoying an electric model without heat in the summer, owning a fireplace has benefits for every season.

That’s why we’ve caught up on the latest fireplace design trends for summer 2024: to help you find the perfect product.

1. Panoramic views

With forward-facing fireplaces, the best seat in the house is directly in front. It’s here you’ll be able to see the flames in action. But in homes with multiple people, this may leave others with an obstructed view.

What’s the solution (besides swapping seats?) Panoramic fires! As one of the hottest fireplace design trends of 2024, multiple-sided fires are the must-have appliance for homes with multiple residents.

Purchase a fire like the DRU Metro 130XT/3 Eco Wave Balanced Flue Gas Fire, and you get a 3-sided view of the glowing fuel bed. Or, what about a panoramic wood-burning stove, like the Dik Geurts Instyle Corner Slim 660/495 Stove?

They’re the best way to truly appreciate your fire’s visual qualities, and we think they’ll be a popular purchase this summer.

2. Chrome

The future is here, and with it, chrome fireplaces! While it’s true that chrome finishes were a major part of 1920s Art Deco designs, they’re back with a bang in 2024.

Electric fires like the Elgin & Hall Pryzm 16" Devotion with 4 Bar Fret Inset Electric Fire are a perfect example of this talked-about trend.

Homeowners can choose their preferred finish, whether black nickel, brushed steel or finished brass, and adorn their room with an appliance that calls to trends both past and present.

3. Eco-friendly designs

Saving the planet is trendy all year round, but this summer, owning an energy-efficient fire will be the ultimate upgrade.

Over the last 10 years, the UK government has introduced a range of regulations to make gas fires and stoves more sustainable.

From the 2022 EcoDesign regulations to the introduction of DEFRA-approved stoves, manufacturers have gone above and beyond when it comes to ‘greenifying’ a fireplace’s internal components.

We recommend browsing for high-efficiency gas fires, like the Flavel Romance HE Gas Fire. With its radiant 4kW output and 82.3% efficiency, you’ll get more energy-efficient heat for your money!

4. Bold colours (including flames!)

Most people associate summer with bright blues, greens, yellows, and pinks: it’s no wonder one of our favourite fireplace trends is bolder colours!

Fireplaces are for year-round use, so if you’re looking to step out of the box with your colour choice (but still want a unit suitable for all seasons), why not pick a white model?

The Be Modern Avant 750 3-sided Floor Standing Electric Suite is an excellent example! With its radiant white painted finish, you can brighten up your room with a design that looks great all year round.

But that’s not all! You can also purchase fires with Radia Flame 3D and Nitra Flame 7 technology.

Fires like the Flamerite Luma 900 LED electric suite allow users to create flames of any colour! From blue to green to purple, you can get creative with your flames independent of their heat source.

5. Vintage styles

Cast-iron fireplaces were a staple of upper-class Edwardian homes, and now, they’re making a big summer comeback.

Cast iron is a dense material coveted for its heat retention properties. Even after turning your appliance off, your fire will still radiate heat into the room. Not only this, but the vintage appearance of cast iron surrounds is perfect for period properties.

The Gallery Edwardian Combination Fireplace Suite comes with a choice of four tiles: the Sweeping Rose Yellow Ivory set, adorned with tall, delicate flowers, is ideal for those looking for a pop of colour.

6. Media walls (with TVs!)

Do you have a fireplace and TV in the same room?

Why not save space by combining the two appliances into one media wall? This multifunctional feature is becoming a must-have for modern homes (especially those short on space!)

Media wall fires are not only practical, but they’re the perfect way to enjoy your favourite TV show in the comfort of your glowing electric appliance.

The British Fires New Forest 1600 Electric Fire would be perfect for placing directly under a recessed TV, as would the Gazco eReflex 135RW Inset 1-2-3 Sided Electric Fire. Media walls offer a new way to integrate your favourite appliances for a more convenient, luxurious living solution.
